As many of you know, I have been involved for many years with Families Forward Learning Center (formerly known as Mothers' Club), a Pasadena nonprofit organization that prepares at-risk families with young children living in isolation and poverty to succeed in school and in life.
In order for significant, long-term change to occur within a family, you must reach both parent and child and educate them together. At Families Forward, children attend high-quality preschool while parents take ESL and GED classes, volunteer in the classroom, receive parenting education and support, and build self-confidence. Every day I am inspired by these parents' hard work and commitment to a better future for their families.
